June 4 General Lecture (week 9)

Part One

Step one: Read through your paper, and pick your best paragraph. Write down the first line (just as a place marker). In your notebook, jot down the traits that make it your best paragraph.

Step two: Swap papers with a partner (one that you have not worked with yet). Read through the paper taking notes on what you like about the paper. List the traits that make whatever you like “good writing.”

We decided on the following characteristics: Inviting introduction, providing examples with relevant quotations, persuasive, relatable ideas, mentions the strengths without “bashing” the weaknesses — unbiased language, advance language, demonstrated knowledge of the topic.

Concluding activity

What characteristics of effective writing have you already incorporated within your draft?  What do you still need to do to your paper moving about effective writing?
